At Zaman Books, we are dedicated to publishing high-quality works that preserve, explore, and illuminate the vast heritage of Islamic history and scholarly legacy. We welcome submissions that align with this mission and contribute meaningfully to the understanding of our intellectual, spiritual, and cultural tradition.
We are especially interested in manuscripts that may fit within one of our core series:
- The Essentials – Accessible, concise introductions to major eras, regions, movements, and historical currents in the Islamic world.
- Chronicles – In-depth, narrative-driven historical works that explore events, periods, places, and turning points, providing immersive storytelling grounded in rigorous research.
- Zaman Kids – Engaging, age-appropriate books that introduce children to Islamic history, values, and personalities.
- Luminaries – Accessible, concise introductions to major Muslim figures — rulers, scholars, saints, warriors, thinkers, scientists, reformers, and others whose lives shaped Islamic civilization.
- Legacy – Classical Islamic works presented for a modern readership. This series focuses exclusively on translations —whether historical, legal, spiritual, or scholarly — accompanied by high-quality introductions and annotations.
- Historical novels – We also welcome well-crafted historical fiction rooted in the Islamic past. Novels should be grounded in authentic research, bring historical eras vividly to life, and remain faithful to the spirit and worldview of the period they portray.
What We Are Looking For
We consider well-written fiction and non-fiction that has a clear, authentic grounding in Islamic history or scholarly tradition. Manuscripts should bring clarity, depth, and originality to the topics they explore.
What We Are Not Looking For
- Works unrelated to Islamic history, heritage, or scholarship
- General fiction or non-fiction without a clear connection to our thematic focus

Please do not contact us via social media for updates, as all submissions are processed through this inbox.
Our aim is to respond to every submission; however, we cannot guarantee this in all cases. Please allow up to 6 months for us to consider your manuscript or proposal. Additional time may be required if external opinions or reviews are sought.
Feedback & Decisions
If we decide not to move forward with your manuscript, please note that we do not provide detailed written feedback. In cases where we see potential and invite you to revise and resubmit a proposal, we may offer targeted comments to guide your next draft.
Before any contract is offered, we will contact the author to discuss the strengths of the submission as well as any suggested improvements.
